Cherish Arrowsmith
Intern
Growing up on Gubbi Gubbi country, Cherish developed a close connection with nature and has always been focussed on sustainability. She is particularly passionate about flora and the conservation of biodiversity through the management and recovery of threatened species and the control of invasive species.
Through completing a Bachelor of Science majoring in ecology and conservation biology and marine biology at The University of Queensland, Cherish gained a wide variety of knowledge and has experience conducting research in the field and in a lab. She gained an understanding of how environmental not-for-profit organisations run through an internship with The Threatened Species Conservancy and found it fulfilling working on threatened species projects. Since graduating, she has volunteered with the Lord Howe Island Board’s Weed Eradication Program and thoroughly enjoyed being able to contribute to such an important program.
During her time at CEC, Cherish is excited to expand her understanding of how not-for-profit organisations achieve conservation outcomes and is eager to contribute to the conservation of the Otway’s incredible biodiversity.
